Naked Presence

A prayer is an invitation to rest or abide in what is most essential in our being. I have tried here to express my own version of a prayer:

I don’t know, sweet beloved,
what to do with my fear, my anger,
all my overwhelming feelings
and the limits I impose on myself.

So please take them into your loving lap,
tender them till they melt
and are taken away to be
one with your infinite being.

It is my plea and my wanting,
rather my offering – for I’m asking nothing,
to be rid of all my clothes and be seen
naked in front of your most naked presence.

Let your constant outpouring of love
be my daily inescapable anchor,
let me I be you and you I
and feel no more the pain of separation.

You were so unnoticed,
at best visited from time to time,
let me now be the absent, unnoticed one.

Let me be whole and one with all things,
let me find in the pain, in the ache,
your most gracious presence,

my heart!

  1. I know exactly how this feels, Alain. I too still have a lot of fear and anger, weather changes that blow through all the time. It is very difficult making sense of it all…
I am learning to Accept and Navigate when those tides roll in; to breathe into them and allow everything to be… Easier said than done! Sometimes it feels so bad that I just want to give up and throw it all away; this thing called “spirituality”, “enlightenment.” Sometimes it feels like too much effort for something so nebulous. I just have to let go of it all – all the trying…

Guided meditation sometimes helps. Adya’s “The Unconditioned Nature of Being” on Youtube. Sometimes just distracting the mind in the mundane helps. And of course, *trusting* that Grace is always here. We are *always* naked before The Beloved who sees all of us, our fear and anger, and embraces it all.

    Wishing you Peace…

    1. Thank you Christine! Maybe it’s all a question of identity. There is a French teacher, Eric Baret, who said to, little by little, “let these treasures, these emotions rise in us. Then they will actualize in our stillness and reveal the deepest aspects of our being. Emotion doesn’t disrupt stillness.” But as you said, ‘easier said than done’. Wishing you peace too…
